Formula JiggaWatts Race Season (June-August) - Page 21

I believe I'll be DICING this week. I will be focusing on spi32m still though, but once I find some stable high core clocks and I'm done with 2d I'll throw in the 580 and go for 3d.

Well I finally got round to volt modding my 260GTX

Testing on stock cooler showed the mods worked fine and core was scaling ok with small increase to vgpu. At 1.22vgpu I was just short of 800Mhz core speed so decided to bump to 1.25vgpu in the hope of reaching 800Mhz and decided that was as high as I would take it on air cooling, temps were only hitting 60*c under load according to GPU-Z.
Next thing the screen goes blue, not bsod but blue from the red, green , blue colour spectrum and system resets itself!
Im thinking I maybe just hit ocp or ovp when next second something pops and sparks fly out from under the heat sink followed by 2 more pops and more sparks!!!

Heres what it was>

Not sure why it happened though the card was pretty hot around the area and power reg's so possibly over heated.
Also a normal place for voltage read points would be the back of those power regs(the R22's) but they were showing higher voltage than what the card was giving under idle and load before the mods were in place, i.e stock idle voltage was 1.06v and stock loaded voltage was 1.12v but the back of the power reg were reading 1.26v and 1.32v respectavly so I disregarded them as been too high and found different read points.
In hindsight perhaps those were the correct points, but still my 1.25vgpu would of only being 1.45vgpu but I dont think they were the correct points because nothing else , such as temps doesnt add up!

Needless to say I will not be adding any better results for this card !

cant tell but looks like you may have shorted caps never seen smd caps do that before though. Did you burn any chokes or damage anything else???? If not you can prolly fix with some low esr caps just find whcih side was positive and which side was negative and throw em on there. Looks like its 12v input to me

The ADP4100 will not go above 1.35v w/o a VID mod. Most likely wasn't overvoltage. Can you mark were you where measuring from?

I think those are SMD's on input to mosfet stage..either that or.. .. Reggie..! Did you poke the fan header with your DMM probe..

either way its fixable.. use tweezers and carefully remove whats left.. you can throw some large SMD's back on there.. probably even can type caps will work

**G200's are very demanding too... you should monitor your +12v input on load to see if your PSU drooping input voltage is what may have caused this..

It wouldn't even set it to realtime which I can do anyways just not the affinity.
Might have to just face facts and run it in 7
