New build

Thread Starter
OK, this is going to be my first build, and i don't know a massive amount about computers... i have only ever had this one, and i was hoping for some advice.

I am going to stick with this graphics card as it easily lets me play the games i want to - cod4, americas army and css.

I would like to replace the case, processor and the motherboard, get some new cooling and maybe the HDD if my budget will allow me to. Me and my brother are splitting this and we wouldn't like to spend more then £200 each so maybe a budget of £400 - but lower would be better.

I know nothing about processors or mobo's, so if someone could help me by pointing me out some good deals on good ones it would help a lot.

Thanks, Adam

P.S new build, i have only ever been an intel and nvidia man, but is it worth swapping to AMD/ATI??? i know it is cheaper and less powerhungry generally speaking...

THANKS

Hey adam.d

Well first i want to ask is why the new build your old system is enough for what your doing. but if its feeling old then i would do this Change you OS to Win 7 64 bit and go from 2gb to 4gb and as the OP said just get a GTX 460 or 470. this way will save you some money and extend the life of your system. Getting a new case will also add that much need new look and feel.

1. upgrade to win 7 64 bit
2. new ram 4gb +
3. Gtx 460 or 470
4. new case
cheapest way i can see to have a new feeling system with out busting the bank

Good luck

£300 - £400

and I'm looking to upgrade it, make the PC run more smootly and be able to play games smoothly, which, for example, at the moment it is unable to play COD4 smoothly,
