i sorta agree. and being a previous iphone user of three generations, the simple UI is exactly why i dont like the phone. i jailbroke it and modded it to the point of noticeable slow down. apps on my wife's 3gs would boot up quicker. i think, if they havent already, apple will fall behind soon. what they offer hardware-wise, is always way behind the competition. right now, iphone 4 will get you an underclocked processor and a 5mp camera. pick the right android device and you've got a dualcore, 8mp camera and maybe even 1080p capture.

the iphone 4 is very nice on the outside, but thats it. its like a pretty but stupid girl. the android is an intelligent beautiful woman.

The iPhone's release schedule is too slow to actively compete with the constantly upgrading android market and even at the 4G launch android already had more power.

...but not the software optimisation to go with it. Apple optimises their software furiously, thats why it can run smoother than the fastest of android phones at stock.

Now I've used all iphones and am on my second android and struggle to see all this "iphone is smoother" argument.

Yes I've seen some bad examples like Samsung early touchwiz. But I've not seen a laggy android in quite a while.

Um... the galaxy SII UI stutters in comparison. Skip to around 4:30
The iphones menus (and my desire) are buttery smooth in comparison... did notice the the home screen is better though.

TouchWiz still has that lag, being a big UI overlay. Nothing bad though, could be rectified by using a smoother home launcher like LauncherPro, ADW or Go Launcher.

Exactly my point, you need to switch to aftermarket solutions to fix what should be perfect from the start. This is where apple excels, it just works, and works well.

Well... enough of me playing the devils advocate, was a lot of fun though
