Hahaha, funny how that win for Sony turned into a big loss. Who knows if their network will ever be safe again.

But to stay on topic, the desire is a nice phone. Basically the same as the inspire. Hell, I rooted the phone and flashed a stripped desire rom. It was nice not having all that AT&T crap.

oh the irony
back OT

as I like to put it

Android= users who like to tweak and customize alot
(mostly males from what i've seen locally and from my friends; I'm like the only one with an Android phone )

iPhone/Apple= Users who want somethign good at stock or just want something to "work" out of the box
(even mix of males and females from what i've seen)

and RE: smoothness
yes I agree iOS can be pretty smooth in transitions and stuff only because Apple only has to develop for like 2-3 platforms (itouch/iphone, iPad) and they control the hardware side so optimizing iOS to run smoothly is relatively easier compared to Android as there is literally thousands of devices out there with varying specs

However I'm an Android Guy at heart <3
Apple won't get a cent from me as long as I live, unless I get somethign for free

It has been said many times by google and android app developers Fragmentation is a pain, so many different platforms, all slightly different and also the different versions, Apple usually only has to deal with 2 versions at a time and between those two you see like 99% of users. Android spans from 2.1-3.0 right now due to companies not bothering to update.

If you get to be the devils advocate, then I must be the devil himself

While I'll agree that the iPhone isn't a bad phone, I wouldn't think that their price could ever be justified.

There are plenty of other phones that can match the quality of an iphone with a lesser cost. I'm not going to sit here and name them, but we all know they exist. The iPhone in terms of structual quality is no better than most others. Just plastic and a conductive screen

As for it "just working", almost every phone does that. Not without their little bumps and issues ofcourse, but the iPhone is in that same boat and they've had some bigger blunders thant they should have. I originally had a 3G which for the most part functioned well, however some apps would manage to crash the system and other times the 3G would just decide it's had enough and freeze up needing a 'hard' reset to get it back.

Then up until recently I was using the 3GS, again for the most part was functioning well but once again not without issues here and there. Wifi was a big one, it would often connect to the network for some time and then decide not to after a while. It was quite the process to get it connected and again and was relatively annoying.

As for the 4, I haven't owned one but we all know of the big antenna issue that made the rounds (no, users weren't holding them wrong Steve) and then there was the blunder with the white version not fitting in iphone 4 cases. Interestingly enough, apple didn't state anything about it until a 3rd party (aka the public) made the clear observation.

There's plenty of other manafacturers who have had problems, but we don't put them on pedestools and give them our money anyway like we tend to do with Apple and their iphone.

I now own and Ideos X5 (google it) running vanilla android 2.2 and am so far without issues. (not saying they don't exist, just haven't found them yet). I do now prefer android over iOS, but wouldn't jumpt to say it's better because an operating system is a preference and therefore subjective.

So why does apple charge more for their products?
Higher quality than everything else? No.
Works better than everything else? No.
Apple is a big name and can just get away with it? Most likely.

I'm done now

The only clear advantage of iOS in terms of user experience is the smoothness of the platform, which is possible due to the optimization and ridiculous control over the system. Android on the other hand has not had full hardware acceleration; that will soon be changed when Ice Cream Sandwich lands on Q4 2011. If that implementation is a success, we'll see current-gen Android smartphones flying in terms of responsiveness.

Dual core it great for multitasking but OFC and iPhone wouldn't know anything about that
If you're not into cameras and don't know/have DSLR then why would you still cared about who takes better picture? You know that 5MP, 8MP don't make a differece in image quality right? It's about the camera sensor. All modern smartphones have a decent sensor and they make little difference. Don't be so picky now

That is true. I've got a bunch of outdoor pics I took with my phone and point n shoot, im going to put them up on the big screen to compare. Ill out a couple up here so you can see how the infuse camera fares against a "real" camera.

There's a difference between not expecting perfect shots and just taking whatever, my cappy takes much clearer pictures than my 3gs ever did.
