I think im ready to OC

Thread Starter
well, since i join the forums, i been trying to learn and improve my knowledge to build a fast pc .. but now, i think im ready to overclock my sandy bridge to 4.5.. or atleast break the 4.0 barrel..

just to be sure.. because this is going to my first time OCing, so i dont want to screw it up . because i spent alot of money to build this rig and i dont think i could afford to do another one like this .

im pretty sure my system is capable of doing so(if not please advise me what i would need, thx). also, would is the basic guidelines that i should be aware of? and what kinda performance will i notice if OCed higher?

please any tip is welcome and i would appreciate it thx

oh i will probably do these step http://www.overclock.net/intel-gener...uide-p67a.html if there's a easier way i would like to know

Just follow that guide you linked, you've got good cooling and a great motherboard so you shouldn't have any trouble. If you encounter any troubles, just ask back

It is extremely easy. Just up your multiplier to 45 and bump up your voltage to something like 1.36, and start it up. Use prime95 to and run that test for at least 15 minutes (you'll want to do it longer when you have some free time) to make sure it's stable and the temps aren't too bad (mid 70's should be tops). If everything looks stable you can start either decreasing your voltage or upping your overclock more until you find a good balance, lower voltage = lower temps which is always good. There are some things like EIST, C1E, C3, and C6 in the bios that usually when disabled it can make your overclock more stable, but I've heard of issues disabling those with Asus, like noted in that guide, and I don't know if those have been resolved yet.

Just don't be scared to dive right into it. Read the guide through once, and then read it carefully a second time. Take notes if you really want to. You're more than capable of doing it, just don't worry too much.
