C++ or Python? - Page 2

Either one would be fine. Once you get reasonably competent in one language, it's not too difficult to change your specialization to another one if you're more interested in it. That being said, I think Python is less frustrating than C++ for new programmers. If you're a new programmer and interested in learning Python, this is a good list of a bunch of Python tutorials for non-programmers. I've never tried it before, but Google has a great course available for both Python and C++.

If this is for a hobby, try them both and pick the one that seems the most fun to you.

Having not written even a line of python, use python.

Unless you have some reason to go with C++ go with the higher level language.

The reason one has not replaced the other is that they are both useful in different situations. Which one you use depends entirely on your situation.
