Problems getting HD to show up

Thread Starter
So I just replaced my P8P67 Pro with the exact same board except being the new B3 revision model, and now my hard drive wont show up in the BIOS to boot from. I figured since I was replacing the board with the exact same one that I could just leave the hard drive as is and have no problems but that ended up not being the case.

I had another hard drive laying around so I installed Windows on that one and have the computer up and running now with the original hard drive still connected to see if I could access it within Windows to just get all my data off, but it doesn't show up in Windows either even if it isn't the boot drive.

Any ideas of how I can get my data off a drive that I can't get to show up on my computer?

Did you plug the drive in?

Double check the connections, make sure its getting power and try a different sata cable if you have one. I installed another HDD the other day and when I was putting the case door back on it must have unplugged the power cable. I thought the drive was bad.
Or try a different sata port if it still doesnt work.

Yep I have done all the basic stuff... I tried all 8 SATA ports with multiple cables.

I took the same cables that were connected to a known working drive and connected them to this drive so the cables/ports shouldn't be an issue. I am looking around to try to find a replacement PCB and see if that will fix the problem but no luck finding a firmware match.

Is it possible putting the drive in an enclosure and connecting it via USB will give me access to the data?

Yes.

Well I just put it in an enclosure and still nothing...

I noticed the drive doesn't make the usual "grinding" noises a hard drive would make when accessing data, but it does seem like the platters are still spinning.

Maybe the arm is stuck?
