i have my rig for the past two + years...
E8400, Asus P5Q pro, 2*2gb G.skill PI DDR900, Perc 5/i - HD103UJx4 RAID5 , SSD OCZ 60GB vertex 2, HD4850, P180, VX450W, audigy 2 zs platinum pro
i was thinking about moving to an itx rig and on the way upgrade myself to 1155 but! this thing ain't cheap, i do have the money but i'm a student in college so... money is a problem

so i started thinking and ended up looking at this board: Zotac G43ITX-A-E
http://www.zotacusa.com/zotac-geforc...therboard.html
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813500042

why this one? need the sata ports. have a raid right now of 4*1T with a perc controller and want to move to a softraid (itx, dont have room for the perc) and use 4 of the itx sata's for raid and the 5th one for ssd

what do you think i should do?

That Zotac mobo purchase = pointless..

Just get smallest (and cheap) ATX case and instal P5Q into it..

Also I f you upgrade to 1155 then make sure you buy a nice graphic card too, powerful enough to play along a SB CPU..

It would most definitely be a upgrade for you..

If you stepped it up to an i7 and a bangin graphics card, you'd be facing a HUGE upgrade.

I say stick with 775 at least until official Bulldozer benches are released. Then make up your mind if you want to go 1155 or BD.

Also, what do you use your PC for? Upgrading that 4850 card would be a nice boost in games.

I'd upgrade. I felt a HUGE jump going from my C2D to my i3, and mine's a 1156 processor. jumping from your C2D to a, let's say, i5-2500k, would be a more than noticeable boost.

There is a lot more quad core games out there, than when you purchased your 8400. Most games now support and ultilize 4 cores and some games simply arent very playable with 2 cores(GTA 4 , bad company 2)

To people that say wait for bulldozer, there is no way bulldozer is gonna be better for gaming. Im sorry but its true. The 8 core version may be better than 2600k for very heavy threaded apps, but for gaming I very much doubt bulldozer will be faster.
