I do not understand why computer fans are so expensive - Page 2

Ahahahaha! good question, its because pc gamers are willing to pay such high prices. I'm sure if you convinced enough people to only buy cheap a** fans then in a year or two i'm sure higher qaulity fan prices will drop because the demand has decreased.

also, computer specific fans are aimed at a much smaller market place, meaning less demand worldwide, meaning higher prices.

basicly you get what you pay for.

Because pc fans are technology driven and bought by people who are generally looking to get a certain type of performance/noise level/aesthetics whereas that fan is for low income people who are trying to stay cool

I use Sun Ace 120's (the .31 amp model)through out many different rigs. They get the job done, no hint of trouble but these fans were over 15.00 each I am sure (I really think over 20.00 each but just not sure). I do think there is is degree of reliability we are paying for, I will admit I have never read any sales or pricing rational. I could be jaded and just say they cost a lot because people will pay the price asked.

Thats what I said. the decrease in demand will result in an excess supply of high end fans so company's will try to drop the price to try to get rid of them.

Computer fans are often meant to be able to run 24/7, unlike these fans that take the power from the wall.

Lol.

Exactly who do you think is manufacturing your case fans?

Yes, there are other reasons why case fans are more expensive than box fans, but labor isn't one of them.

Economy of scale for one, and price is determined by what the market will bear.

More people buy box fans than buy high end computer fans (economy of scale).

Plus, geeks will pay extra for a fan that does what they want it to do (what the market will bear). There isn't really such a beast as a high-end box fan. lol
