There's only the choice of AUTO, 4 bit, 8 bit, and 16 bit.

There is no 32 bit option.

Managed to hit 4.2ghz without a worker stoppig in Prime in the first set of tests. Had to put the voltages up a bit though while testing. At least I know I can now get there, yay. Sitting at 50 degrees so I think that will be the max I'll get on air unless I can get the voltage down (though I'm on the chips highest safe voltage currently). If I can't get a stable overclock after dropping the voltage I'm going to back it back down to 4ghz.

Edit: this is the current overclock I'm now testing in Prime95 via Blend test.

I can get it cooler by about 3-4 degrees at least if I set my four case fans to high. They're currently set on low because high makes my PC sound like it's going to take off.

Tried pushing into 4.3 and 4.4 territory but it seems to require more than 1.55 voltage so I'm stopping there. I've got this current overclock sitting in Prime95 now on a blend. Going to run this for 12 hours now to see if it's stable. The voltage is at 1.525 with VDDA at 2.80 with having to take into account voltage drop. It sits around the 1.48 mark as shown in the validation.

Ok so here's my current BIOS settings. My 24/7 4ghz overclock (which I'm happy with, I don't want to push too much on air) is stable and my voltages are as low as I can keep them stable.

CPU bus frequency: 250
PCIE frequency: 100

CPU ratio: x16
CPU/NB frequency: 3000
CPU voltage: 1.4625
CPU/NB voltage: 1.4000
CPU VDDA voltage 2.50

HT link speed: 2000
HT lin width: 16 bit
HT voltage: 1.20

DRAM frequency: Auto
DRAM voltage: Auto
Memory timings: Auto

Northbridge voltage: 1.10
Northbridge 1.8 voltage: 1.80
Southbridge voltage: 1.20

I need to get around to setting up my RAM properly, but really am lost with regards to how timings work etc, lol.

You should have the ht link set to auto, i believe that is the 32bit default. Your NB seems high, 2800mhz is usually the ceiling. but if it passes 12+ hours, hey, awesome.
As for the memory timings. Amd likes tighter timings over higher speeds. With the reference clock at 250, and the memory at 1666mhz, that means your rams auto in the bios is 1366?? i belive. what is your memory's rated speed and timings? when cpu-z is open, go to the memory tab for you current speed and timings, then go to the SPD tab. this will give your memoriy's speed and timings ratings. If it is different, keep in mind that the timings may be higher for higher speeds as a cautionary default setting.

Generally speaking, Your first 3 timings should equal the fourth, and all 4 should equal the 5th. I.E. 7-7-7-21-42. But there is always room for improvement, lowering them while keeping the speed thay run at within specs. Take some cpu-z screenshots of your mem. and your spd tabs.
Good overclock Though

I'll look into this. thanks.

It managed a full run of Prime95 over 12 hours with no crashes or errors. Only thing I'm worried about is temperature, but this will be the CPU temperature right? If not then how can I check the temperature for Northbridge and what's the safe maximum?

At auto via CPU-Z:

Ok here's my CPU-Z of Memory and SPD tabs. There's 4gb of RAM, it's exactly the same for both slots so I just posted up one slot only.

That's pretty tight timings for that speed. you may need a little more voltage 1.55, or 1.6, given the fact that your 500mhz overclocked on your ram. but if it's stable it should be fine. that 3000mhz N.B is impressive but may not hold, if you want to keep that speed i would test it. NB gets a but kicking at about 4-6 hrs into prime testing. Personally, i would roll that back to 2800, and see if you can either go higher on ram, or tighten the timings. roll them back one at a time, starting with CAS, then tras, and so forth

One way to test which timings work best for you system is to run some memory benchmarks, this a tiny app that will give you bandwidth and latency

That will help you find a perfect medium for your ram

It went through 12 hours of Prime95 with no errors or crashes (I fixed my error, I missed the number 2).

The current overclock is stable.

Ok so lower the CPU/Northbridge frequency, and either raise the DRAM frequency or lower the RAM timings, yes?
