a. Use 'Screen Fit' under 'Picture Options' (p11 of the Manual). This might solve the OS issue.
b. Rename/Edit the source/input to 'PC', 'PC-HDMI'...etc

your option a. won't work still distorted.

Why do you think your option b. will work ?
No promise that the trick b above will work. It is just that some people have tried this trick in the past and it worked for them.

Please excuse my mistake, it is not HDMI 1 but other HDMI inputs (2, 3 or 4) that you can use your current cable and to have sound. I apologize for the confusion.

What attempts have you tried within the Nvidia Control Panel?
When you connect to the HDMI 2 input of the TV, you get perfect sound but picture is distorted and overscanned.

Say, for driver 270.61:-
Under Display ->Change resolution, try the HDTV Setup?
Under Display -> Adjust Desktop size and position, try resizing the resolution? (read page 11 of release notes of 270.61)

Typical setting on the digital picture where the sharpness is too high. With the HDMI if you want to try again, turn the sharpness setting all the way down. Typical on Samsung LED/LCD's. Or do what I do and revert back to VGA. I prefer the analog over digital with all the digital 'enhancements' anyways.
