Help me get my 870 to 4.4Ghz plz !

Hello , Iv had my i7 870 stable at 4.2ghz for a while now 24x175 .. = 4.2ghz thats with ht on and turbo boost enabled using 1.408v .

If i go 24x180 = 4.32ghz and with any amount of voltage it wont stay stable , i get bsod at random times and if i run cinebench it will just get bluescreen straight away .. even at 1.45v .

Now i am a total noob when it comes to qpi/vtt voltage and i just leave it on auto , no matter what qpi/vtt voltage i apply my system wont stay stable ..

atm my ram is kingston hyper x ddr3 running at 2100mhz 1.65v extreme profile @ 12x .. im not sure how much i can overclock this ram but iv heard i can get higher than this , ram stays really cool thanks to the airflow in my case .

Cpu cooling , in this weather i idle at 25c and load mid 60's using cinebench . As far as im concerned i can take this cpu a little higher atleast to 4.4ghz 70-75c load ill be happy .

I was advised that 24x multi will strain my cpu abit and iv probably hit a wall for my overclock .. Im not sure how well you can overclock on a UD3 board ?

Should i be using 21-22x multi ? with 200+ bclk to get a stable 4.4ghz overclock without turbo enabled ? I remember trying 22x200 and it didnt stay stable =( what am i doing wrong .. maybe its the qpi or vtt voltage ? or im taking the ram too far or ?

i can boot into windows at 4.4ghz 22x200 and verify my Oc with cpu-z but it wont stay stable for long at all .

My temps are great

Iv managed to get this .. didn't stay stable though .. ?

any advice plz ... + rep to anyone that reply's .

thanks .

What's your PCI-e at? Sometimes increasing it will help to stabalize your system. Also, what's your qpi voltage and pll voltage set to at the moment?

My pcie freq is 130mhz , any higher wont boot .. good for extra bandwidth to the gfx card and hasnt damaged anything yet ...

I just got my cpu to play crysis at 4.51Ghz without any bsod 22x185 at nearly 1.5v and 1.5v qpi i am really happy about that ... sticks to around 50c on the hottest core while playing i know it wont be 100% stable but i dont do anything other than gaming and if its stable in crysis it will be in most other games too hopefully ..

4.51ghz from a lynnfield aint too shabby with a h50 , with hyperthreading on . Nice .

thanks for that

Since you are gaming you will not see a marginal difference going from 4.2 to 4.4. My advice is just to stick with 4.2.

With under 200 bclk there is no need to be pushing high pci-e frequency. I bet even 100 is good enough. You also probably don't need huge amounts of VTT for the bclk, but the high ram speed is probably causing the issue. I'd drop the ram divider one and see how that goes. Just because the ram can run high speeds, doesn't mean that the cpu's IMC is up to the task.

This^

Running the PCI-e at 130 is a bit insane, I was going to suggest ~105-110, and the vtt looks to be too high as well. I would do what Mike says and turn down the ram divider and see if that solves the problem.
