Using RBE to OC 6950 --> Blue Screen, help required :)

Thread Starter
I'm having quite a hard time with my 6950 since I'm using MSI Afterburner to control the clocks of the card and I game BC2. The problem with this is that every time I launch the BC2 I'm doomed to get a RRRRRRRRRRR freeze due to MSI Afterburner having some troubles with punkbuster. Quitting MSI AB is one solution but quess how many times I've forgot the f...ing issue and just launched the game anyhow? Well... Apparently too many times since I'm asking for help. So I though that I should put my OC into the BIOS, boom, problem solved. But nooo, if I change anything that has anything to do with clocks, I get a bluescreen after booting up W7. I am using RBE to edit the bios. Changing the fan settings and unlocking the shaders worked just great but I havent been able to change the clocks, no matter what I try. Input would be very much appreciated

You can write a script that automatically closes Afterburner when you launch BC2 and reopens it once BC2 closes. I actually helped someone do that a long time ago for BF2

If you need any help let me know, it seemed to work out pretty well for him. This way, you don't need to mess around with the BIOS of the card. This will basically act as a background process, and is very simple.

That would really be helpful if the AB wouldn't revert to stock clocks whenever quitting and launching it again
post #4 of 20
It does? That's weird because mine doesn't lose the settings.

Yeah it does. Even if I have the "Apply overclocking at system startup" button enabled. I wonder if setting my OC profile as the standard 3D profile would help, going to try it now

Edit: It didn't. Also it, remembers my voltage settings right but not the clock settings

So the overclock on your card is 100% stable right?
If so then this also happens at default clocks right?

I've been running bitcoin client for two days straight now with 1GHz on core and it worked just fine. Also been gaming some BC2 at 1000/1400 and the clocks seem to be stable. And yes, it isn't a "stable OC" question, it is a "how to get BIOS overclocking to work" question.
try using the 'hash1' method in RBE.. and when your flashing..you ARE using the right flags to force the BIOS load right?

ie- -f -p

so many reasons we all hate punkbuster. first time it crashed i thought my card wasn't stable or something but then i read about it here.

use the "stealth" option in the Afterburner OSD tool.. can help to fool PB and keep AF running without issues.
