Using RBE to OC 6950 --> Blue Screen, help required :) - Page 2

Yeah I went almost bashing at the guy I bought this card from but I'm glad OCN pointed out to me that the crashes were punkbusters fault cheers.gif Also had a glitch with computer freezing while mining if screensaver went on...

And I tried the "no hash" method and from the clocks tab changing only the 3D clocks but no go frown.gif I flashed the BIOS with parameters "-f -p 0 xxxx.rom". Tried flashing through Winflash under Windows (well duhhh?) and through Atiflash under DOS booted up from a flashdrive. I'm going to try the hash1 method later today, thanks tongue.gif

I do hope turning off AB works for you. You've played a good amount with AB off recently and it worked fine? I know I've tried everything except stealth mode (just enabled that since CL3P20 mentioned it, THANKS!) and still get random crashes in BFBC2 unrelated to anything else. There are threads all over the internet about it, so it isn't just me, and people blame it on everything from AB to programs that poll your CPU/GPU for info (GPU-Z, Coretemp, etc), to AMD/ATI drivers, to audio drivers. I've tried all of these solutions different times with reboots in between over the past few months since BFBC2 is my current favorite game and I play it with my friends often, but surely enough it still gets hard freezes that lock up my computer entirely.

Maybe the stealth mode will work or will help, but who knows. I've given up, and if my computer crashes within 15 minutes of a previous crash, I usually give up and get frustrated and do something else (hence why I'm on here now instead of still playing Oasis with my friends frown.gif )

Have you tried gaming in a non-punkbuster server and manually shutting PB off? That could work, but such a server would need some strong administrating biggrin.gif And yes, after I shutdown the AB my clocks still remain at 1/1,4GHz and it works like a charm but I've forgotten the damn program running too many times mad.gif

Did you try the registry hack method to overclock? Information in my sig. You can use that to increase CCC limits and then use RBE to modify voltages (if needed).

Didn't quite get the hash1 method. It is for increasing the OC limitations right? But even if I increased the clocks under the clock settings tab by one MHz I get bluescreen. headscratch.gif

I think I won't be able to change the voltage either :/

Hash1 will increase your clock limits in CCC to that of a 6970. DONT adjust clock speeds in the BIOS. You will be able to use CCC to clock your card/s afterward and avoid any issues with AB you might currently have.

Other than that..the only things I would recommend is you try :

1.- editing the BIOS clock speeds on another computer system..and see if the BIOS does the same thing once applied.

2.- try to flash another vendors BIOS [if you have reference model]..if it works, try to edit clock speeds.

lol dude I had the same prob. Wish I could edit bios but it aint gonna work for now but someone else is having a prob to not just us smile.gifLook Here

I think I'll go with the registry hack and change the voltage from the bios as these clocks seem to be golden. Bye bye MSI Afterburner wave2.gif

And thanks guys for helping.

I asked something that is commonly asked as part of troubleshooting, does this still happen at stock clocks?

I don't know if this was sarcasm or not. How would I overclock to... Stock clocks? Yeah, I think it was sarcasm, most probably biggrin.gif

Also flashed a new BIOS with 1.275V voltage and nothing else was changed, BSOD! And lucky me I couldn't find my flashdrive so I think I'll run this GPU at stock for a while. Sigh.

Edit: Is there any way to change the clocks and the voltage without AB? I got the increased overclockability from the CCC but now I would really like to get back to 1GHz and at stock volts that just ain't happening biggrin.gif

Edit2: 925MHz seems to be the last stable OC at 1.1V. 925MHz at 1.1V VS. 1000MHz 1.275V. As much as I'd love to have a GPU at 1GHz I think I'm going to go with 925MHz, much lower power consumption -> much lower heat output -> I will be able to sleep with my window closed without ambient temperature rising to 30c biggrin.gif
