Physical Memory 55-60%

Thread Starter
When I start my computer the Physical memory was at 20 or so percent. Then after I installed Oblivion my PM was at 72%. The process for the install was closed and it would not go down. So I rebooted and it was 20% again, so I installed the Shivering Isles expansion and the update, and again my PM goes up to 55% and does not go down. Only after the installs does my PM go up.

I have 2 x 2GB DDR3. Why is the usage so high?

check task manager and see which process is using the most ram

run msconfig and remove all unnecesarry items from startup tab

As long as this issue is consistent it's pretty easy to pinpoint that the usage is due to the installation. I'm not sure about how much usage an installer would take but I wouldn't be surprised if this is normal.

I'd also suggest doing a control run where you boot up and let it sit for a bit and then check your RAM usage. Also, check your RAM frequency/timings and post them please.

Use Resource Monitor to see memory usage by process.

Seems like memory leaks

Recently bought something at MC for 80 which is how much an 8GB (2x4gb) kit is going for. I am considering returning the product regardless, but I kind of want to return it to buy the RAM. Would the 8GB do anything for a crazy multitasker like me? I usually have 50+ actively running FF tabs, plus a bunch of other software. Plus I would like a speed increase for installing/running applications.
