6950 atikmdag.sys bsod - Page 2

got a bsod with ram timings in. according to the logs it crashed because of: ntoskrnl.exe (the kernel system) dxgmms1.sys (directx) atikmdag.sys (good ol' amd drivers again) now i'll try doing a clean restart and edit with what i get.

Before doing a clean restart got a bsod memory management. after a clean restart got a bsod memory management within 10 seconds of boot... Did memtest 5 times all passed just to be sure... I'm 100% positive i have exactly what patriot said for the specs in the bios 9-9-9-24 1.65v...

This is really pissing me off... when i boot with the right ram timings it crashes but when they are all on auto its ok...

also a interesting note aida64 reads this on the ram: DIMM1: Patriot Memory 1600EL Series4 GB DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM (8-8-8-22 @ 609 MHz) (7-7-7-20 @ 533 MHz) (6-6-6-17 @ 457 MHz). Even though the website is spec'd for 1600mhz 9-9-9-24

I don't think any dd3's spd tables go above ddr3-1333. It's either done with xmp profiles or you have to set it manually. I think it's the spd spec that actually stops at 1333.

What are the timings and speed according to aida or cpuz when it's all set to auto?

Took out the ram stick i added the day it crashed and its been stable for about a hour. Also flashed back my 6950. was on the second bios before now both are flashed back...

cpuz like many other programs doesn't work since ccc ****ed up my pc... aida works tho

heres the timings 9-9-9-25 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) 1T
real timings are one off 24 instead of 25... also yes on my bios there is no way to set memory timings other than using xmp. Also it sets the voltage around 1.5 on auto instead of the suggested 1.65 (which may not be a bad thing)

But i'm going to need to reformat my hdd eventually ccc ****ed up my computer. 3dmark11 won't work cpuz won't work... many programs don't work for ramdom reasons...

sometime maybe this weekend i'll reformat the hdd and oc it on a vanilla windows 7... Hopefully that will solve everything.

Well sounds like a bad stick of RAM. Can you rMA it?

I wouldn't reinstall windows if everything is runningnow unless your due for a purge

but without the ram stick things still don't work. ccc is meh. i installed it and theres no way to open it but who says thats a bad thing the driver works decently... but 3dmark11 won't open and it seems programs have trouble finding my specs. Also i don't belive its a ram problem since i just got this from a rma. I ran memtest for 3 hours and got no errors. but is it safe to run it overnight for 12+ hours? because thats what everythings leading too.

The thing is though i have a uefi bios and i belive its a bios problem with dual channel ram... Passed memtest for 3 hours so that probably shows its fine.

If you're still having CCC problems, I would definitely suggest uninstalling them (again) and then do a driver sweeper to clean out any remaining bits (plus any other hardware stuff that you may not want being in the computer), then re-download and do a clean install of 11.5 or whichever driver you prefer, CCC included if you want to be able to mess with custom screen settings and/or eyefinity. If you don't care about that stuff, you can always just get the driver, overclock with afterburner, and save yourself from needing CCC for the time being (you'll likely find something in the future you'll need it for, whether it be for transcoding, crossfire, etc).

Since you've had so much trouble, here's the link to driver sweeper, newest version ready to download.

Best of luck. I know I was tearing my hair out when I couldn't get my computer to boot to not a bluescreen in normal windows mode when I installed crossfire. I just ended up doing a driversweeper clean-out since the uninstaller wouldn't work in safe mode. fortunately it wasn't a hardware problem like you may or may not be having. Either way, best of luck, and I empathize with you!

installed it twice already. Once with driver sweeper... Most recently with driver sweeper.
I got 3d mark 11 to run yesterday but it got pretty low results.also on the site it detected 0mb ram for all mycomponents... This was with 1 4gb stick in so its more stable.

Just as a remark, do not be quick on blaming drivers or CCC for this issue. Obviously, some process is killing you memory and thus the display drivers cannot work properly. I am not saying that the drivers are definitely not the cause, but unlikely because many others including me are running fine with them.
I discovered my MEMORY_MANAGEMENT BSOD during the Chimp Challenge. Every time I start F@H, I get a BSOD. I thought for sure F@H client was killing my comp. I uninstalled it, and it still kept happening.
Just as a thought, can you do one last test, uninstall the drivers and install and let Windows 7 use its default drivers. I know it is gonna look crappy and you will not be able to game, but I want to see if you get a BSOD.

Yes I have realized it was memory since with One stick of ram its perfect while the second stick isn't dead. I'm going to try messing with the ram positions and yes I would like to see that too and will do a clean install probably tonight.

Ah cool ! I may have missed that in the posts. Well, I suppose it is time to RMA. I went ahead and bought me a set of RAM while my bad one is getting RMA.
