Recommend a Psu.

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I did a estimate on with the eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Lite v2.5 for the following.

Core i7 930 @ 4.0Ghz
Gtx 570 SLi (Future Upgrade)
1 SSD & 4 HDDs
Dvd Drive

The calculator recommended that I get at least a 850 watt psu. Would this be enough also for water cooling added in the future? So far I've been looking at the Corsair and Cougar 850 watt psus and the Enermax 920 watt psu.

Thanks!

850 Watts will run that system just fine. The only component in a water cooling loop that requires power is the pump and it doesn't use that much power. Even a 750 Watt would run that comfortably but you're going to want to get the 850 to have some headroom for future upgrades.

Speaking from experience, Corsair build top quality PSU's. They'd have my vote.

Ok, thanks guys. Look like I'll be getting a 850 watt psu. Was about to get a 1000 watt but wasn't sure if I really needed that amount. Been wanting to get a modular psu also.

Only 36$.
Assuming this is for the PC listed in the signature, why go from a mid tier 650W Corsair to a bottom tier 600W Corsair?

Yup, definitely go modular. My TX non-modular is a pain in the proverbial butt.
