Soundcard suggestions- Need help

Thread Starter
I've had my Audigy 2 since it was released. It has served me well and it still works but seems like it performed way better with Windows XP. But I've been considering to go with an Asus soundcard for quite sometime. Should I consider an upgrade? Would there be any benefits? Any suggestions/advice appreciated.

I would also like to point out that I do not use speakers or surround sound. I only use a headset for my music and gaming needs.

What sort of sound equipment do you have? If you have decent quality speakers or headphones you should see a noticeable increase in quality from an upgrade. I'd say go for it, but nothing over $100.

what is your budget?
but anyway i think the 100$ Asus DX will be really good for both gaming and music (especially music)

but if you do have more to spend i think that both the Creative Titanium HD or the Asus STX are even better

and yes there is a noticeable improvement even with old equipment (not a rubbish one though)

I am not sure about getting anything with Creative brand anymore. I bought a Fatality Pro before and the driver support was horrible. I returned it and stayed with my Audigy 2. Asus's soundcards seem to be gaining some support here so I've been leaning towards that territory. I'll be checking out the Asus STX and DX and their reviews on it. Thanks guys.

will just about one point
people say that the Creative fixed the drivers issue in the Titanium HD
and many reviews said that also
so maybe if you take another shot with Creative
it`s up to you , i`m just clearing some point

I am with Crag. I did a professional review on the Titanium HD and did not have one single driver/performance issue in over a month of testing.

Don't hate the Creative Titanium HD because of drivers. Hate it because the sound isn't to your liking. Hate it because the DSP is tainted. Hate it because it doesn't offer 5.1. Hate it because it doesn't have a headphone amplifier. Hate it because.. that's all I got.

Anyway, Titanium HD is a good card. If you don't have headphones that benefit from amplification, you should look no higher than a Xonar DX if music is your thing. If you're into gaming the Titanium HD can be your friend for 2 times the price of the Xonar DX.

Check out the middle link in my sig.
