Get GPU-Z by techpowerup too-another nice little software i,m sure you will like-its free. Also linx and ibt for stress testing, you can use those to run a quick test to see if your oc passes befor running hours of prime.

Why do so many people recommend Prime95 for 12 hours? I've had overclocks stable in P95 for that long and crash almost instantly after I fire up one of my favorite games. Not trying to contradict so many, but 12 hours seems silly given how different programs stress the CPU differently.

I always do 5 runs of IBT followed by 20 minutes of P95, then I play a few games. If my OC survives that, I call it "stable". Granted, there could always be an infamous x124 a week down the road, but at least I know I'm in the ball park.

Its our way

Generally, I go IBT & Linx for 1 hour. If it gets through that, I go Prime95 for 12 hrs. I fold, so I need my clocks solid.

I hear what you are saying and there is a trend away from long runs of Prime (ie 24hrs). Having said that, its really up to the individual and its their call how they wish to test their OC.
