Rampage III Formula + TWIN3X2048-1333C9DHX

Hello

Hey guys im looking at upgrading my current system to the x58 platform and just had a question with compatibility.

Im thinking of buying the rampage formula III mother board and getting an intel i7 950 cpu. I was just wondering if this ram TWIN3X2048-1333C9DHX would work with it? to my knowledge its dual channel I have 4 sticks of this ram in my current computer (which is a 790i ultra).

I was just hoping to put these ram modules into the new board, or would this pose problems? Also I would appreciate if people would suggest some good priced ram modules that would suit this motherboard.

Thank you very much

Yes, you can run them in Dual Channel mode but I'd rather get some Triple Channel RAM instead. Here's a set at a good price (if he still has them).

Btw, welcome to OCN.

Hey reaper

Thanks for the reply its good to be part of the forums yeah i was considering getting better ram but I just wanted to salvage what i could from my old system lol i might stick with the dual channel and then look into getting a triple channel set down the track !

Im looking forward to this board I have heard so much about it. It will definately be an upgrade over my 790i ultra system with an e8500

thank you

^ You're welcome and I totally understand about you wanting to salvage some parts (I'd do the same lol).

Anywho, R3F is a good board and I'm sure you'll like it. I'm using it on my sig rig.

running them in dual channel is completely fine, disregard reaper's suggestion of triple channel kits. You will not see a difference at all unless you benchmark the PC at extreme speeds and such.

RAM is RAM it works in pretty much any board that supports it. (but not always at the speeds/timings on the sticker. AMD sometimes has trouble using intel specced ram at its rated speeds, but intel to intel swap should be perfectly fine )

Hey

Thanks wumpus i was just a lil scared that it wouldnt be compatible i understand why people say got triple channel over dual but i guess we all have reasons for everything

since I created this thread i was also wondering what you guys would suggest for a good cpu cooler for the 1366 cpu? I bought the original nhu12p from noctua and loved it! (i still have it running in the system)

Im looking at getting the revised version of it but is there a better cooler for cheaper? or similar price? I also like the size of it. I cant have a cpu cooler too big because of the dhx heatsink fins which i have a feeling will come on the way of those double triple fan coolers (silver arrrow)

or would it be better to get a kit like the h60 or h70? id lean more toward the h60 then the 70 if i were to choose from those 2.

Just a note im i have a corsair 800d case to work with here all the cooling is from my older pc where i had a 790i ultra in a antec 900 case... (was wayy too cramped in that)

Thank you
