Well, I'm not specifically doubting the performance in general being fast. That I can believe. However, it seems some people underestimate Crysis/overestimate how much extra performance the lower resolution will bring.
Crysis is a special case. With today's video cards that aren't as bandwidth limited, and with Crysis being such a shader heavy game by applying shaders on a per surface basis (meaning wider aspect ratios with larger a FOV has alot more for Crysis to draw/shade), the result is that you're sometimes no longer bandwidth bottlenecked in those cases/scenes but rather GPU/shader starved, and in that case, FPS numbers for resolution doesn't scale how you might first expect, so this sometimes happens.
Note that these results depend heavily on the exact scene, as not all scenes exhibit this trend and behavior (I should do more testing but it seemed shader heavy scenes, especially those with more water, seemed especially partial to react this way).
Anyway, don't want to take the thread off course since it's about making Crysis look good. It's just an interesting little trend I stumbled upon. It confused me since benchmarks didn't show this trend, but then again, benchmarks often show just one variable (either maximum or average).
