Use Pc with no hard drive

Thread Starter
My samsung f3 1tb is away for RMA, however i need to use my computer during that week

I dont have any spare hard drives, so i was wondering how else i could temporarily use my pc for a week?
- I only need to open word docs, listen to music, browse the net, and if possible use steam chat.

I have a bunch of USB's- can windows be installed on them? even if its xp?
Or is there a live CD that i can use?

Sure, just download an Ubuntu Live CD, burn it and you can boot and use your rig from the CD-Rom. There must be a way to do the same form the USB key which would probably be faster.

I always install windows via usb, its about 4 times faster, although, id imagine if you formatting a usb with a boot partition you could boot windows install from usb and install it to a 2nd usb. read here, its an excellent guide:

I'd just use Ubuntu if you really only need to browse and edit word docs.

Installing and setting up Windows isn't worth it to me for such a small time.
