First you need a boot disk with mini xp or a xp created with pebuilder. You need partition table dr 3 or whatever version you can get above 3 and ntfs get data back. look for the portable version.
Now boot with the disk. Run ntfs get data back for a minute or 2. Then press stop. Now look for a file called index.dat. Recover that onto a flash drive or anywhere but the drive you are recovering it from.
Now start up partition table dr 3. Use the index function to back up the current one and then replace the current index with the recovered one. When all is done make sure everything is applied then reboot into windows. Your full drive should be restored the way it was.
i have no access to "mini" XP or normal XP, i found Active Partition Recovery which found all the files that i need, and even though you have to pay for it which i would but trying to buy it and it wouldnt allow me
So i know the data is still there, i just cant find any bloody free software that will find it and allow me to recover it Testdisk allowed me to recover 1 partition that was on the disc, just not the partition that i wanted and it wont allow me or i cant figure out how to recover the partition that i need
ANyone have any other applications that i could try? this is driving me crazy, if only i had closed out of Computer management before i left the computer
