Since the drive was deleted i havent reformatted it or anything so that its still unallocated - therefore it has no disc drive. I am doing a complete scan of everything, though i am not too be honest holding much hope.

And its going to take ALONG time, scanning all three drives

Actually if you haven't partitioned it yet there is a lot of hope, that's the BEST thing you could ever do.

Yeah thats why i havent touched the partition as i know the data is there, i just need to find a way of being able to recover it - which as of yet i havent been able to do to.

I have recovered and deleted the second partition that was on the same drive several times but the same software i used for that just wont work on this partition - maybe due to the size differences? 101gb vs like 800-900gb

It might take forever to scan though. =(

If it's NTFS/FAT32 and you didn't start a new partition (just deleted and never touched the drive again) you are in luck.

"Re-create the exact same volume but choose not to format it. "

Is that just making a new volume?
i had one partition that was 100gb and the second (the one i want) used the rest of the drive. So do i need to make both Volumes? just to be safe as i dont remember what the exact size of it was

EDIT : from what i have read on various sites is that it is not 100% chance that it will work and that all the data could be lost, i dont think i am ready to attempt that just yet

I feel your pain man. about 8 months ago I formatted a full 500GB HDD. it had all my personal files on it, including priceless family photos. it also had a large collection of war documentaries that were hard to aquire.

I tried recuva and a few other free programs but nothing worked. Since then I wrapped the HDD in bubble wrap and its been sitting on a shelf untouched. I want to contact a company that deals with HDD recovery and send them the HDD. i'm willing to pay anything to at least get the photos back.

anyways, here's to sharing some depression. your not alone...

if thats the case you might want to look at Active Partition Recovery, it found all the files i wanted and would cost 39.99Canadian dollars(?) but for some reason i couldnt buy it, maybe because of my debit card or something

In the Mean time, i am not going to give up. I am currently running EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard in the hope that might work, will take like 6+ hours to scan just one disc, i hope its the right disc as it just has the hard drive names and as all my drives are the same make it kinda makes it alot harder
