[Engadget] Apple offers free repairs for products damaged by Japan quake - Page 5

Good move Apple, whether genuinely caring or just a PR stunt, it's still nice to see some compassion.

I couldn't care less if it was all a PR stunt, it helps people, that's what matters.

Something as simple as an iMac or an iPod could be the one thing that gives a family peace after this disaster. A tether to normality, or a life that once was. It's better than nothing.

Perception is key, and if this gives a family, hell, just one family a perception of normality, it's worth it.

Of course, I'm not saying this will fix a family that has lost members, people are irreplaceable, but it helps the healing process.

@Jebus101: While I don't wish harm on anyone, after you've gone through a disaster, you'll learn that any tether to a normal life before the disaster is worth more than any amount of money thrown at you. Regardless of how simple that tether may be. Your post doesn't even deserve being quoted.

While Hurricane Andrew down here in FL doesn't match the tsunami.. I had one, one damn little fire truck and guess what, even my parents attested to the fact I was the happiest kid ever, even without a roof on our home except for one portion. Tents were pitched and as far as I was concerned it was all fine. If one Apple product can to that for a family... what's the harm?

I like how people are failures at reading... Every company has been doing this, they were forced to... Get over it.

Engadget with its Apple bias hits again.

As you guys can see, Apple isn't the only one, they along with all the other companies were forced to under the Disaster Relief Act.

China hates iphone. And I mean they really really really hate it. Buy one there you get relentlessly ridiculed. In japan they just laugh at you and say nokia better.

So much ignorance in the world, how much have you helped Japan? Did you donate? Have you opted to help repair anything there?

No?

Then quit bad mouthing a company helping them out. Ok, if they did it just for good publicity, who cares? Help is help isn't it? Did a lot more than I guarantee all of you have that are making comments on them. Equivalent to a celebrity giving a homeless man $1,000 on TV and calling him a selfish jerk because there were cameras.
