Hey,
I would like to know your opinions about this HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS SATA3 7200RPM

I have read a lot of stories. A lot of ppl say, that this HDD is giving a clicking like noise, or that this HDD has died after some months.
What do YOU think about this HDD and should I buy it? Thanks!

Look at getting a F3 or F4.
I'd rather not spend my money on a Seagate.

Buy it.

Nao.

as mbudden suggested I would get the samsung f3's or the wd black. They are generally more reliable than other brands.

I see, thanks for the comments.

I could get this HDD for 45euros (64USD). I could buy the WD Caviar Blue 1TB for 50euro (70USD), or that Samsung F3 (on the site where it is on sale it says it is SATA2, I don't know if that is correct) for around 55euros (78USD).

Sigh.

You don't need a SATA 3 6GB/s HDD.
A 7200RPM HDD will not saturate SATA 2 3GB/s.

I know, just they are cheaper xD

Seagates are always cheaper, but you have to deal with their reliability problem.

And what about that Western Digital? Because I could buy that WD anytime, for the SpinPont I would need to wait 3-5 days, because they would ship it for me from my capital city.

WD aren't bad. I have yet to have problems with WD. It's just every Seagate I've had has failed me under a year. They aren't reliable. Personally, I'd get the F3 over the WD Black.

F3's are the best $$/performance.
