Casual games are a pretty significant market, and $5 is probably in the realm of an impulse buy for a lot of people. I've played the original Peggle a few times; while it's not my type of puzzle game, that doesn't mean there aren't people who wouldn't mind spending $5 on this.

Of course there are. That's why I said it was a rant. Of disappointment in fact. Anyone who wants these kind of games buys them for 7$ or 8$. I really don't think they wait for offers.

Or maybe they do, I don't know.

I've heard Rift is a terrible attempt at a WoW killer..?

And when it was first released it ran terribly. Like capped at 30fps..

Thoughts?

I have to say that Sniper: Ghost Warrior is a lot better than people give it credit for. I think that for $5 it was a steal. Is it linear? That depends. I don't consider the ability to roam and hunt for the Secret Information all that liner. Kind of wish that it had spawn points but it's still fairly challenging imho.

If anyone gets this game make sure to get the dedicated server update for it. I'd forgotten all about it and when I tried to install it, the game failed under a BS invalid key notification. Did it to the neighbor as well and I helped him get it going but I'd forgotten all about that when it was my turn. For all of 5 minutes anyway.

What's surprising is the game has a Metascore of 55. Most of the games offered probably scored well below that. So imho, if the game offered has a Metascore over 50 how bad could it be considering what COULD be offered.

I find Rift to not have any depth, perhaps that's just me as I'm a heavy melee player so global cooldown variations, defensive abilities and movement improvement (rhyme!) or hindering abilities were always crucial to me. Rift seems like every character is just a boring spam of abilities that all feel the same, all with the same cast time, all have the same global cooldown, movement doesn't affect the battle.... it's meh, imo.

Beta for me ran awful but now I run it on medium/high settings with resolution maxxed and rarely fall below 60fps.

Nice avatar. *Eats a rock candy*

I missed Peggle Nights yesterday...too busy. I'll just wait for a sale on the PopCap Complete Pack so I can get it with Peggle Deluxe as well as Bejeweled 2 & 3 and Plants VS Zombies GOTY. I'm crazy about puzzle games.

That's the great thing about Steam. You miss a sale...you don't have to wait too long for something similar to go on sale too.
