How to disable two of cores on Phenom II X6 1055T - Page 2

If this is for testing purposes (benches, gaming, etc), the you can simply enter Task Manager, and set the affinity of any application to only 4 cores.

It won't deactivate the cores, but it will force an application to run on the specified number of cores.

Does thuban produce less heat than Deneb, or do you mean shutting down cores does.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be rude. I was just curious. I can see how it might have been taken the wrong way though.

1055T has a TDP of 125w, it has 6 cores.
955 has a TDP of 125w, it has 4 cores.

You turn off 2 cores from your Thuban, thus making it generate much less heat and have a TDP much lower than the 955. You'll be able to get a much bigger OC with the 4 core Thuban than with the 4 core Deneb.

Thubans have a better IMC too.

Anyhow, if you only game and have a Thuban, disable 2 cores(and be sure to pick your weak cores) and OC it 200Mhz-500Mhz higher on same voltage.
