Cracked EK D5 X-Res Top 140 - Page 3

The faulty o rings I had were too thin and didn't provide a proper seal. The replacements were roughly twice the thickness. I've still got both versions somewhere so could measure them.

Edit: The faulty ones were a fraction over 1mm thick, the replacements were 2mm thick.

Now my replacement tube is cracking. What are these made out of? A milk jug is better than this EK crap.

I have no personal experience with EK stuff, my first time buying stuff from them was.. ummm 3-4 days ago and I only bought a EK dual D5 top, which is a acetal block with a cover, only hope the o-ring is not going to give me a problem, rest is pretty straight forward... How can you screw that up? They do test their stuff before selling it right?

Sad thing is their stuff is pretty nice, but all this talk about them is really giving them a bad rep...

First the cracked EK res problem, blamed it on pt_nuke.. but a large % of people use them..

Then with the nickel flaking problem, again.. blamed it on pt_nuke, additives, distilled, etc, etc... again, a large % of people use this stuff..

Customer calls and complains about a obvious bad plate job, EK suggest they polish of buff it themselves, only to then say you did it wrong, your are SOL and we are not replacing it...

What the "bananas".... Either this is competition war tactics and someone or some company has really got it out for EK, or they need to check themselves and reorganize a bit...

I'm going to contact the help rep again and see if I can get a new tube and top. The weird thing with the replacement tube is it threaded on fine to the base, but the top didn't want to thread in. No boogered up threads on either the top or the tube. This time I just screwed the top down till the o-ring touched the tube. I didn't even do an 1/8th turn.

If they get snoody with me, then I guess I'll either a different res or take the tube to a machinest and have one made the same but out of copper or stainless steel or hell even melt down a milk jug to the shape of the tube.
