SSD - Buy now, or wait?

Thread Starter
I'm working on building an i5-2500k machine. I've debated purchasing an SSD drive with it, but I'm not sure if now is a good time. I am on a bit of a budget, so could probably at most purchase a 60 gig SSD for $100. I'm not sure if this is as big as I would like it.

Would it be worth it for me to wait 6-12 months to buy one so I can get a bigger or faster one?

Thanks for the advice!

If you don't have anyting better to spend your money at, then buy a SSD, I'll consider first getting a nice Graphics card, or CPU, than going SSD, but hey, If you got the money, definitely go for it!!

Well OCZ is getting ready to launch their Agility 3 and Solid 3 line of SSd's which offer a reasonable performance gain over some current ones, however I believe they're still going to be a tad out of your price range. One of the articles I read stated that both of the lowest GB models would start at $160. Heres a link to one at Tom's Hardware link

And to the question if it's worth it to wait I would have to say that's really up to you. As I'm sure you're aware hardware is always getting better/faster/cheaper. And SSD's are definitely going to start getting much higher capacities for less money. Another article I read said they're predicting $1/GB in 2012. In the end I would say if you have the cash to spare right now you can get some great deals on them and they are definitely worth it right now. Hope this helped!

Thanks!

Is the speed or performance increase of the new SSD's significant?
