Thinking about this PSU. What do you think? - Page 2

Looking at your sig all you would need is at most 750W/760W, but stick with Seasonic. They will be the only PSU I will buy for a long time.

Lol, that is the one I have now and am selling to my buddy.

P.S. It was a great PSU.

I always go for overkill on my PSU. You never know what you might end up needing. I'm constantly adding new components (like most from this forum), plus I want another 580 down the road and I'm going to get Ivy bridge when it comes out. So yeah, I always overkill a PSU, and I think I've decided on the Seasonic.

Seasonic X Series is honestly not even really an upgrade from a HX850. I was also going to recommend XFX Black Edition 850W as usually a cheaper option that's on the same level as those units, but it's not like that's an upgrade either. The XFX units are all Seasonic manufactured.

Does your friend need a HX850? I think you're better off sticking with what you've got, but you're free to do as you please of course.

No, he doesn't need 850 either. My system requires more power than his, but but he needs a PSU cause his is taking a dump.

That's why I think it makes more sense for him to get (or for you to get for him) a PSU of a reasonable wattage for his system while you keep your perfectly good HX850, right?

I understand wanting to upgrade, to have something new. But you won't get much better right now with anything on the market. Super Flower Golden King units (like the Kingwin Lazer Platinum 550W that's already out) or maybe the upcoming Seasonic SS-860XP would be 80 plus Platinum, maybe more interesting, and potentially a bigger upgrade.
