Someone called for a Medic?

Hey Overclockers!

Start off with a few tidbits then photos!

I was practicing dental surgery, even joined a firm. Realized I hated that and wasted about 8 years of my life. I now have 2 licenses, 3 certificates, and 4 degrees rotting. For the youngsters out there, remember it's just a piece of paper. The goal of education is not the paper, it is the education itself. I realized my passion is computers. My uncle gave me my first computer in the mid 90's and I've always fixed them and setup networks for small businesses since I was about 16. I do not reformat like many self-proclaimed techs; if it's a software problem, it can be fixed.

I've been playing games since then also. EverQuest is the best MMO I have ever played. Counter-Strike 1.6 wins Best FPS. All others are too easy when compared. On a gaming note, I have a ton of servers for Valve games rotting. If anyone wants to manage them and populate them or use them for something, let me know.

I love 80's rock, sarcasm and wit, satires, and stand-up comedy. I am extremely active and love outdoors. Big on rock climbing and camping. I frequently just like to kick back and relax in this short life. My favorite color is RED!

Pics or it didn't happen! Here is my prized loft!

Post build of computer. Desk just moved in, well just moved into condo entirely.

Modified desk and finished computer rig!

Further modification of desk! (Yes, I just started watching Anime a few months ago.)

I won the Gateway and Toshiba. They are both amazing! Both 4GB, Intel Core i3. Gateway is clocked at 2.94GHz, 4 threads, 1333MHz DDR3. Laptop is clocked at 2.4GHz, 2 threads, 1066MHz DDR3. FREE! I am a lucky little [insert word here]!

Living room PC.

About to upgrade my rig to an i7-2600K with a new Z68! I only upgrade with revolutionary technology like potential 5GHz overclock! Should mention, I hold a part-time job in Best Buy. The benefits are amazing and that's the only reason I still work 4- 8 hours a week there. I get the i7-2600K for around $109! Bought a i7-970 for $220. It's just rotting my my closet : [

Lastly, I'm always looking for good people to add to my network! Some Canadian kid I met on Counter-Strike 7 years ago is currently in college and getting a degree in Graphic Arts/Web Development. He is pretty talented and he has also helped me a lot with my personal businesses so I'm puttin' him up and hope he becomes an associate eventually. He also always wanted to travel but he absolutely hates the idea of Californians. Luckily, I'm not a typical Californian and I agreed to shelter him.

I should've signed up long ago to Overclockers, everyone on forums talk about you guys and I once used a guide on here for overclocking my old AMD. I hope to get to know you guys and you guys feel free to talk to me about anything. I've been around the block business-wise and etc.

Regards,
Jason "Dieux Soldat" Xiao

Welcome to Overclock.net ...wonderful setup.

I hope you find your passion on working with computers as I continue to find what I want to do as I'm stuck with my part-time for awhile (almost 4 years now). I personally can't stand college so good job finishing that up with your degrees/certificates.

Awesome setups. Are you abandoning the medical career? You probably make like 400K/year right? I can't even imagine it from my $9 an hour pay.

Thanks for all the welcomes, that was fast! Good and active community, nice.

@pvp: It's not the pieces of paper that matter, it's how you sell yourself. I have zero degrees and certs with computers but I work for UCI MC now for $25 /hr as a level II tech. If you are good at something, find a way to show them. Be confident. A confident man can do anything, hence the term con-man.

@Lost: I am abandoning medical. I started off making about $50k only. Real money takes a while and even after years of practice, all the yellow insurance and fees you pay, you make anywhere from $50k-$400k depending on clientel. $9? You can do better! Best Buy pays $10 starting for 16 year olds! Geek Squad starts at $12.50.
