Cheapest way to get WoW going?

Thread Starter
So I have an old friend who won't stop bugging me about starting up WoW again. I did use to play but stopped about 6 months or so before Wrath of the Lich King was released as I was just a casual player and was more or less tired of it.

So now basically I need something to hold me over until Diablo 3 or BF3 are released. I know there are many games out there that I could play besides WoW but I need a break from FPS, RTS and single player games in general.

I know that a lot of people will tell me to not even get started but I'm not asking if I should or not, I'm just looking for the most economical way to go about it i.e. buying the CD-Keys from a reputable site or if its on sale on a site.

Unless you sold/gave your account away all you should need to do is pay for the subscription. $14.99. If you want to play wrath content and eventually Cataclysm thats going to be like $39.99 retail each with some discounters $36.99. If you don't have your account and are starting a new account you could pick up the battlechest world of warcraft which will get you Original and Burning Crusade.

Forgot to mention that when I quit I gave my account to my roommate from back then who still plays and has upgraded the account to the most recent Cataclysm expansion.

I don't want to be an ass and just take it back as I'm sure he has put a lot of work into it and when I gave it to him I had only one max level character and I believe another who was level fifty something.

Then the cheapest way is to just buy vanilla:
Once you finish vanilla then you could buy the expansions.

Then you will just have to get WoW and all the expansions again. They are hard to find much cheaper than Blizz stickers them at.

I guess this is looking the the only option open to me. That is also the cheapest I've seen vanilla WoW. I only with it was a digital version as shipping will most likely take till Friday to get it to me.

There are several website that you could get it possibly a little cheaper and not have to wait for shipping.

You could always start a 10 day trial while you wait for a copy to get to your house from amazon.

i personally don't like paying for online play, so i have played vindictus in the past. it is similar to wow, but 100% free

Yeah my friend was bugging me to get back into it too. I would only play for PvP if I did play again. I sold my accounts the last two times I stopped playing. There's no way in hell I'd pay $130 + $15 per month to play. Maybe $50 or $60 for all four games. Blizzard is just asking way too much, and making it very hard for new people to break into the game.

I heard they had a black friday sale last nov - $20 for vanilla + tbc + wotlk and cataclysm went for $15 I think.
