With staggered spin-up: 400W (NeoECO 400C would be good)

Without staggered spin-up: 600W (Corsair TX650v2 would be good)

Looks like the TX650v2 only has 80+... though it is on sale at the newegg right now. Can you recommend something with a higher efficiency, since this beast is on all the damn time?

I wouldnt worry about that, i have 1300w worth of potential output plugged into a 900w (1250va) ups, and it only hits 80% load when i fire up everything at once.

Don't all the PSUs we're talking about here have like 99% PFC which would bring their VA requirements much closer to their wattage?

Looks like the X650 only has 8 SATA power connectors. Anyone know the cheapest place to get SATA power splitters (SATA -> SATA please, would prefer to avoid Molex -> SATA if possible) ?

Edit: It appears they're about $7 each on newegg. Newegg loves to get you with the shipping charges on stuff like this :-/

what brand ups do you have? What psu do you have?

And 1250 va is 750w not 900w.

no. the wattage is 60 percent of the VA. Do not confuse VA with watt. like psu manufacturers they lie with their ratings. Getting a psu 50 percent of the VA you will never run the risk overloading it or getting all kinds of problems from your psu
