And then how much can you actually OC it after it's unlocked? I just don't understand why the unlocking thing is such a big deal when it seems pretty commonplace to have cards easily OC to the next "tier".

If I'm missing something, please let me know.


Back to the OP:
Value is generally better the lower you go, so it really depends what you want to do. If you want to game at 1080 without breaking the bank, the 6950 should be perfectly fine. If you want higher framerates in game like Crysis, Metro, etc., or if you want PhysX/CUDA, obviously the more expensive card will be better. Currently, at 1920x1080, over 1GB of Vram is little more than irrelevant. Only you can really make the decision with your budget/goals.
