Thanks. Will either one of these be holding back the wa6 ?

if you have to ask that question you shouldn't have bothered with that amp in the first place.

Either one of those will provide a good source for that amp, and without extensive listening my guess is you wouldnt be able to tell the difference between an NFB-3 and something in the next range up like a grace / benchmark dac1, in fact some people actually prefer the NFB.

Its like simca said, the sky is the limit with DACs. There are more important things in choosing your audio equipment than the pricetag on them.

Realistically though, most people spending their money on a WA6SE would be spending an equal amount on both their headphones and their source.

This is the DAC I'm eying.

http://www.wyred4sound.com/webapps/p/74030/117839/396494

Either that or a PS audio DLIII used on Audiogon for $500. But the wyred4sound looks sweet, asynchronous USB, high res audio at a reasonable price.

Thats the DAC I'm probably going to get, with upgraded caps($50). Their DAC-2 has better USB capabilities. If you are looking at the <$500 range the Yulong D100 has a big following.
