Budget sub $500 build - Page 2

AMD will almost always outperform intel at sub $600 prices, the motherboards are cheaper and the processors are cheaper, heck you can get quad cores for $100, and decent mobos for $70.. and with the extra cash you can get a better gpu!

hope this helps.
I disagree to an extent, Core i3 2120/2100 beat a 955 in almost everything and slightly losses to the 955 in video editing. Core i3 will beat the 955 in gaming even if the game is optimized for quads. With LGA 1155 you can later upgrade to another Sandy Bridge / Ivy Bridge cpu in the future.

Thread Starter
My friend just texted me, all he cares about now is to be able to play WoW on ultra settings with shadows enabled. His budget is no more than $424, that is including a videocard but excluding the case that he already picked out. I already have a copy of Windows 7 for him.

I'm thinking either the i3 or an AMD tricore that I overclock for him?
what do ya'll think?
