i need a good air cooler cheap

post #1 of 9
Thread Starter
managed to get my cpu to 3.5ghz on stock volts but under a full prime 95 load its reaching 63c which cant be good for it.

im in the uk so overclockers.co.uk will be where im buying it i think.

i want one that should allow me to see a few hundred more mhz but i dont want something that takes forever to fit.

budget is around £35

what sort of temps would i be seeing with the coolermaster?

is it easy to fit? ie just clips onto the standard mounts?

no you need to install a back bracket.
its not too complicated, and you can find a install guide on youtube so you know what you are infor.

not sure how much a temp decrease you will see, but it will notice it quite easy

Ambient = 22~24C
At stock clock, load temp = low 50's C
At 3.5-4GHz, load temp = mid 50's C
These numbers are for general reference only as there are just too many factors like case airflow, speed of fan(s)...etc

The mounting is not particularly hard. It is not the old style 'push-pin' type. It involves using a backplate.
Take a look:

Take a look at the diagram for the dimensions. The height is 158.5mm. Just make sure it has enough clearance.

You will see significant improvement over your stock cooler.
