Ok guys, im going to get a new graphics card soon. But i want everyone's opinions. Both 5850's and 5870's are going for under £150 so either one is in my budget.

If i end up with the 5870 (which is what I'm very tempted to get) then i will get the Accelero Xtreme 5870 for about £30. I don't intend to overclock the graphics card By the way.

Here are the best prices i have found in UK shops.

If you can find cheaper please post them (UK shop only)

XFX Radeon HD 5850 725M 1GB DDR5 £115.00 (Video Card Shop)

XFX 1GB HD 5850£144.70 (Scan)

XFX Radeon HD 5870 850M 1GB DDR5 £145.00 (Video Card Shop)

XFX Radeon HD 5870 [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/XFX-Radeon-HD-5870-DisplayPort/dp/B0037YMWXO/ref=sr_1_7?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1305633118&sr=1-7"]£147.00[/ame] (Amazon)

XFX 1GB HD 5870 £150.70 (Scan)

(all of these prices include VAT and don't include shipping)

Have you considered something else than XFX?

Not like I hate XFX, but they have a horrible Customer Support and they are famous for going cheap on their components.... Like the new revision of the HD6970...

Either ways, if I had to choose one out of those, I'd definitely go for the HD5870.

However, I'd consider looking for a used card instead for a lot cheaper around OCN, have you considered looking for an HD6950 2GB instead?

I know you said you dont intend to overclock but you can buy a 5850 and just do a minor oc up to 5870 speeds and pay £40 less if you look at this one http://www.lambda-tek.com/componentshop/index.pl?origin=gbase17.5&prodID=B669881 These are the new Sapphire Xtreme 5850's and would be my choice if I was buying a new 5850 review here http://techgage.com/article/sapphire_radeon_hd_5850_xtreme_1gb_review/

@kcuestag the 6950 2gb is considerably more expensive than the cards he's looking at but I would agree with you if he had the choice to wait a few weeks to save up the extra cash.

The 6000 series is too expensive for me and i want to get new parts for my PC (unless you guys can persuade me). See I'm happy to sell my 5750 because you can get £60 on eBay for it max.

I haven't looked for another brand because i actually like XFX and i haven't had any problems with my current XFX 5750.

i have had the 5870 and the 5850. the 5850 overclocked is pretty even with the 5870. an overclocked 5870 is close to a 480. the 5xxx series cards dont do as well as the 6xxx series cards in dx11, so if you play or plan on playing dx11 games, i would splurge and get a 6xxx series card. if you must get a 5850 or 5870, i would save some cash and get a 5850. crossfired 5850 are very fast.

I have two 5850s from XFX and they are both rock solid. double life time warranty too.

Very happy with them.

If you can I would go with the 5870
