That's very true but going into the HD 6xxx series would seem to be overkill for what I need.

I ended up going with the HD5770 with an nMediaPC 6000b case. I added another 1TB HDD to add to my already existing 1TB so I can RAID them for my movie collection(which seems to be growing faster everyday). I have the 2x250GB raided drives I use for my desktop OS right now that I will partition for the OS and HTPC software and then use the leftover partition for music and whatever else I figure out in the future.

So all these new parts cost me a little less than $300 which I should be able to gain back by selling my 2x8800GTX video cards as well as my 2x23" Samsung monitors which I won't have any use for after the initial setup of the HTPC.

Thanks for your help everyone! I'm beyond excited to put this together and get it all setup. Finally will be able to use my PC hardware instead of having it sit in the guest bedroom!

PCI-E doesnt matter what version it is. Just like SATA. As long as it fits in the slot, it will work.
