I actually remember that the Intel boards were the best OC'ers when the P67's first came out. Since all the other companies were still struggling to get their EFI BIOS's correct.

I have one and it's pretty easy to get to 4.5GHz, more if you are a good overclocker, sadly I am not that great but 4.5GHz is more than good enough for me.

It was the best because they were the only was that had PLL overvoltage support, then all the manus called up intel and said... WTH man, then they told them about pll overvoltage and built in the functionality a few weeks before SB release.

No. Just no. Stop while you're ahead.

It might be the original release version with the buggy SATA ports but all you need to do is contact Intel and they will authorize an RMA for the new B3 revision. You also need to send them the board first. I bet your friend just got sick of waiting for the new revision boards to show up at retail centers (they still are not for sale). Usually Intel requires that you go through your retailer but I had purchased my board back in February from eBay. I told them that I was unable to get in contact with the seller and they then gave me an RMA. Also, for some unknown reason, the new B3 revisions of the DP67BG are unavailable from ANY retailer. You cannot find them for sale anywhere and I don't know what the delay is. Intel obviously has new revision boards available at the Return Centers and I got mine over a month ago. I wonder what the delay is though?
