[RP] Microsoft To Bid For Adobe - Page 11

I think Microsoft is staking ground and preparing its defenses for Google. With the mobile market evolving so fast and Google with a firm grasp with Android, Microsoft would benefit by acquiring Adobe first.

Of course I would never use adobe reader, but thats what joe internet uses, so when joe internet wants to download pdf file, and realizes that windows doesnt come with pdf reader, he downloads adobe reader which is well over 100 mb and to do so he has to use adobe download manager

When joe internet logs onto youtube for first time, he realizes that windows does not have flash player installed by default, so he clicks on download flash link on screen and quickly installs adobe download manager to install flash on internet explorer.

Joe internet isnt video editing, joe internet isnt doing high end photo editing.

Joe internet is reading pdf and watching flash.

Also, some pdf files just dont work right without adobe reader, its quite rare but Ive seen it happen.

And lets not forget about adobe checking for updates constantly by default unless you go into controls located in windows control panel and turn it off, which joe internet will never figure out

If joe internet actually kept his software up to date it wouldn't check the internet constantly, and by keeping his software up to date he can avoid pdf files with exploits built into them. Other reading software is also vulnerable mind you, but it's more hit and miss with that kind of exploiting.

Hmm you may be putting words in people's mouth's. No where did anyone allude to running a company better than microsoft.

Many have just said in so many words, they likely wouldnot like Microsoft to absorb Adobe.

Running a company Day to day is different from an Acquisition which may or may not be good for consumers, and from that standpoint, anyone who buys the products of either company has the right to question "If" down the road this may be advantageous or not.

My personal opinion on he subject is there are many examples of companies who have outright destroyed new acquisition lines of business, or put them out to pasture etc. and in most cases it's with monolithic huge entities just like Microsoft, who cannot get out of their own way at times.

Also there is some wiggle room to not confuse Microsoft's rise to dominance, not only on good focus, and the goal to be the defacto home / business computer O/S & Office software manufacturer, but with other factors that played a part as well.

No one doubt's they standardized this genre which was a good thing for every PC user in a sense, no one doubt's they also copied, stole, borrowed every competitors product ideas along the way and helped many of them out of business...Netscape who?

To the point, if MS bought out Adobe, they obviously would try to not just sit on their hands with this acquisition. No prophecy here, prices and services will either go up or down, or stay the same. Also I would wager some internal at MS would be butthurt and ego bruised by the outside Talent being brought onboard but that's another topic altogether not worth the ink.

If it happens, the market will react. What's the worst that can happen? Adobe preinstalled with the O/S just waiting to be activated? MS tablet with Development tools installed? meh. I hope it's all a rumor.
