Eh. You have a point.
But I'm sure you can throw Linux on a Chromebook.
& when that happens.... Wine + Steam = Steam on Chromebook.
But not ChromeOS lol

They're both on the same playing field at the moment. Neither can buy out the other.

Yes, a true point that I was about to raise. However, I'd like to add that Apple is in a much better position to initiate a public offering to raise capital because their stock price is extremely high and they have so few shares compared to M$. Of course that would be pointless since Apple is already sitting on a boatload of cash; more than Microsoft actually. And we can't forget Apple's unmatchable brand equity. Overall Apple's valuation is higher than Microsoft's today.
I don't know about this. Factually, you're correct. But I think if both companies decide to raise money to buyout the other, I'd guess there's a larger chance that MS will get the financing, not Apple. Although US Gov would probably step in and prevent this from happening at all,

MS is still a much bigger name than Apple, and they have more "say" in tech matters. If the common man runs on Apple, then the business world runs on Microsoft.

Looks like Microsoft is restocking its arsenal against Apple. Could you imagine if Microsoft purchased Adobe and then killed all the Mac-oriented products?

Granted, that's very unlikely because they'd be missing out on a ton of sales and revenue, but with the acquisition of Skype, the Nokia rumor, and now this...it definitely looks like MSFT is reloading in its battle against Apple. Sadly MSFT isn't realizing that most of Apple's success these days is attributed to its image and not necessarily their offerings being superior.

If all these acquisitions do become reality we could be in for some really interesting times.

Take a time machine back to the 80s and try saying that again.
"The business world runs on IBM. These stupid lil personal computers? Don't waste your time with that s*&%"

Don't assume that the way things are now are how they will forever be in the future. Businesses are just locked into MS from prior use. It's hard getting people to change. The hurdles of moving your corporate email to Google Apps vs Microsoft Cloud are an example of one of them. It's easier to just stick with Microsoft without having to have your employees learn all over again.

I don't get what the deal is? Microsoft does quite a few things right.
1) Office every version has improved on the last
2) Windows, every version has improved on the last (including Vista)
3) Microsoft also develops applications for Mac as well...
