Intel ssd gone.

post #1 of 10

So weird story to tell:
my dad has a spare intel ssd lying around, and i wanted to use it. I instal etc etc but on trying to format it , it only shows 7 mb. With some special software HDAT2 i spot that the rest of the space is HPA. This program should be able to remove that HPA space, but it can't. Nor can i get any program to read anything from the SSD, except for intel postville= x25 G2. I tried updating firmware= no go. My dad had the same problem before, returned the SSD, got a new one and the exact same problem. Tried this on both my dads and my computer. Nor does it help to put bios into legacy etc.
Any advice?
Kind regards,Ben

You should try get a new rma. they might send you a newer model

You may have been just unlucky and got a faulty drive.

"erasing" a brand new SSD will accomplish nothing

I don't really think it's a PEBCAK, i think its a YAA.
i did try HD erase, wouldn't work.
Hardware --> check rig,
It's not in a raid controller port or anything.

Does the BIOS properly detect the size?
