I dont like the whole unlock/perk system, i like my games to be more like halo 2. Everyone starts on the map, and all the weapons are on the map, and its a matter of who got to it first. Not who has the run speed perk, or who has the sniper as their starting gun.

I actually like both systems quite a bit. Perks/Guns are fun unlocks, but I never felt a a huge disadvantage without out them. Can a bad player have a good game and get lucky? Sure. But a truly good player must adapt to the rules. Camp when you need to, get the kill steak, launch the chopper, and kill all the people trying to shoot at it.

Good players will always use the rules to their advantage, not complain about it. Just because a game turns the tables, doesn't mean you should keep the same play-style from another game and complain when it doesn't mesh well. It's not like the rules are inherently stacked in favor of bad players, they are just different, and the same techniques you used to use aren't quite as valid any more.

I loved CS 1.6, and Halo:CE, but I also had some of the most fun playing COD4 on console. Different types of fun for sure, but there is no reason you can't learn some new tricks and dominate xbox scrubs or PC scrubs on totally different games.

Perks add depth; for a community so obsessed with faux-tactical gameplay, I'd imagine this would be welcome provided it's reasonably well balanced. And as near as I can tell everything has been so normalized that it doesn't really matter anyway.

Kill Streaks reward getting kills, and taken on the whole the rewards are pretty fair in terms of benefiting actual talent. Players that camp behind a door may get 3-4 kills in a row but quickly get taken out by rezzed victims. Building up larger streaks requires competent shooting, moving, and quick thinking. I once would call that tactics, but apparently I'm confusing it with staring at a flag for a round and spraying when anything moves.

This is all assuming a fairly even distribution of player skill in any given game. There are ways to manipulate any reasonably complicated system into an unfair advantage, and there are some people who probably try a bit too much to find and use them.

I seem to have a hard time killing anyone from a chopper mounted doorgun in BC2

boats, stationary guns....truck mounted...no problem

Not sure why, in VN I seem to die often enough from them,...

Do that and I'll play your game.
if they do that, they better add even more weapons

one complaint I had on BF2 was too few weapons
