Perks and kill streaks the bane of online multiplayer - Page 4

Plenty of servers cater to this. I like hc with vehicles conditional on amount of players or gametype(none in tdm) in BC2. Cod series always has it's hc no kill streak servers. Most of them are crouch, but some aren't. If you have dedicated servers play style is up to the community.

I still reminisce about Halo CE/Halo 2 days.
That would be Section 8 Prejudice, the one FPS that is closest to the Halo/Tribes playstyle with none of the COD crap that has infected other games.

And it is pretty freakin good for $15, i play it more than most games for $50.

I'm well aware of what today's games are lol. I used to play in UO tourneys ALL the time.

But artillery was such a fun way to round people up into a nice ambush and satchels were such a nice quiet way to throw out of buildings to round up a crap ton of kills.

I'm not disagreeing with you by any stint but CoD has always has some kind of perk system.

Some of my favorite FPS' are still ut2k4, and red faction...ahhh red faction...death match on that was epic.

It may not be the solution for all games but perks are the "carrot" of these console based games. It takes longer to get to max a "level" and therefore you are around to pay for any DLC. My view is that competitive players want it stripped down and don't like the variables involved in the system because they see certain things as "cheap" while those that use them, airstrikes, chopper abuse in BC2, nukes etc. see them as fun.

I'd say trying to remove it from some of these games, especially ones with questionable hitboxes, would serve to expose some flaws. I mean older titles purely shootiing, no perks seemed to have a lot more precision like quake, ut, even halo. But many of those feel hyperfast and arcadey now and we're in the age of "realism". Also, dedicated servers in many games aren't as customizable as in old days either. That would help adjust better for players who wanted a more pure experience and I don't just mean hardcore mode.

Or when they use a pistol and do it. Annoys the hell out of me. Sniper rifles if the shot doesn't kill you, it will drain your health down enough so that one more shot random shot will kill you. Well obviously they fast switch over to their pistols and start rapid firing from across the map and you're dead.

COD2 was one of my favorite MP games of all time. Though it did aggrivate me that I'd get 35 kills in one match, and the other three of my teammates couldn't pool together 15 kills for us to win. Happened far too many times. There was no way to get extra ammo in that game other than picking up a dead soldier's gun. And I loved it.

That said, BC2 is hardly anything like the more recent COD games. Yes, there's leveling and unlocks. But there's no stupid killstreak bonuses, no dogs, no AC130's, no nukes. It still requires a fair amount of skill (unless you're using a gustav, then you're just a pansy ass). There's actual bullet drop and travel, not just point and shoot death.

BC2 is really a phenomenal game, mechanically. There ARE some things I'd like to see changed, but, let's face it, it's the best FPS out right now...until BF3. (queue BF3 title music)

The perk system is rather useless IMO. No matter what kit I use, this is in ALL GAMES CoD4-BO and even BC2, I always use the same perkset, as does the majority of players I encounter. I have played some CoD1 and I loved it. Never played MoH or CS. Perks do function, but when everyone uses the same perkset, Lightweight/Sleight of Hand/Ninja, the game goes back to its skill = win origins.3

CoD4 is my favorite CoD title, but BC2 is far superior. I suck at it and barely hold a 1.0 KDR, but enjoy every minute of it. CoD Blops makes me rage b/c of total BS moments and I am better at CoD. The XBOX has brought a skill = fun mentality to the games, and thus the perk system. Skill != fun, a well balanced and fair game = fun. BC2 is by far my favorite FPS title, keep in mind I only have played since 2007.

Yeah but perks and killstreaks makes COD very funny game, so that is why is COD most popular fps game of all time, and sold millions of copies, becouse is ******* funny and never get you bored !
P.S. if you dont like killstreak or perks you can turn off them, but i love perks and killstrek !
And many games just copy cod like crysis 2 they have too perks.
