[vr-zone] Exclusive: First official picture of MSI's N580GTX Lightning Xtreme Edition - Page 12

What is the big deal? It is still a GTX580 Fermi. Where are the cards that laugh at Witcher 2 and Metro ? Come on Kepler already!

The fan changing color does seem kinda useless to me at least, I do like the dust removal tech though where it spins the fans in reverse for 30s at start up. I wonder if that's something they could bring to the regular Lightning with a update of some sort.

^^ If anyone is buying this card, it is the type of people who watch their temps. Plus, how are you supposed to see the fans with the way the cards are slotted into the motherboard..? All you see is the pcb.

I wish this thing had a waterblock

You'd be taking the stock cooler off & watching the temps on the thermo anyway...

This lol. I clean out my computer every two-three months anyways don't really care for any auto-fan system to dedustify my gpu. Also I doubt it would be anywhere as effective as a simple air duster from Micro Center.

Good, so you don't have a use for the extra features, don't buy it then. Just because you can't justify a reason to not use what's given to you, doesn't make it useless.

The worst thing about these crazy models is that they always appear super late in the game...few months before a new generation.

Non-reference designs = lots of R&D work done by the board partner, and all that takes time.

Do you think product just magically appears overnight?

I think he might have meant compared to the plain jane (LOL) lightning, it seems to be a little late if all we get is extra VRAM, color changing fans, and the dust fan profile. Speaking of the dust fan profile where they spin in reverse for 30 seconds at boot is it possible for that to come to regular lightnings?
