Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries On Windows 7

Thread Starter
I own MechWarrior 2 Mercenaries. It's a game that I loved when I was younger, but never completed it. I am getting annoyed with the new MechWarrior release being delayed and to my knowledge no idea when or if it is still coming out. I have tried MechWarrior Living Legends, the mod for Crysis. It just isn't all there yet.

So... I want to run MechWarrior 2 Mercenaries on my Windows 7 64bit pc. I also have Virtual Pc installed with Windows XP.

I have not been able to get the game to run. When I attempt to run the DOS executable version I get an error that basically states the program cannot run on a 64 bit platform. When I run the Windows executable version, the game starts then crashes or disappears right after the menu screen.

I am wondering if anyone knows a work around or has had any luck getting this older game to run on a newer platform.

I have done some searching on Google, but haven't ran across anything that has made any sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you havnt found this stuff yet. I used to run it through mechVM if memory serves. the DOS version is actually much easier to get running believe it or not.

youll need something to limit the CPU power it will utilize because alot of things in the engine are tied to CPU freq, and strange things happen if you dont (at least for me it did). This can include instantly dying to small lasers, jumpjets not recharging, heat not dissipating, heat dissipating 5x faster than it should, instantly dying when you walk into something, flying off the ground never to return etc... lachen.gif
