x16 PCI lanes crossfire Motherboard

Thread Starter
Hello folks,

I'm looking into buying a motherboard for my Sandy Bridge build. I have an i7 2600k, and I'm thinking of going for two HD 6950 and crossfire them.

One of the things I have been looking into at the speeds of the PCI lanes. The Asus pro motherboard seems neat but it runs at x8/x8 if I understood correctly.

The Maximus IV is a very pretty and expensive board, and it has 4 pci slots at x16. Now I understand that not all will run at x16, but will two of them run at x16.

I really like the asus sabertooth, but I am not sure if you can crossfire the two 6950s and that they are x16

Any other suggestions? Thanks

x8 x8 will be fine

the decrease in performance is minimal
