Screw it I'm getting a RASA

Thread Starter
So I have decided to just say screw it and get a RASA kit. Some questions on what I will need with/besides it.
So Far I have:
1 RASA rs240 or360 kit
1x feser uv red liquid
1x free I&H Killcoils

Anything Else I'm going to need to just get it going?
Also wanted to say I'm leaning towards the 240 as I think the RAD will mount nicely to the 2 rear fan slots on my Antec twelve hundred. I'm not sure where I could put the 360 rad on the twelve hundred or I would Just spend the extra 30 bucks and get that. Also thinking, will the 240 leave room for future loops or is it only good for cpu block?

Thanks,
Nick

Ditch the colored liquid and get colored tubing. You'll want to have different tubing than the stock stuff anyway as it discolors quickly

Also the RS240 is pretty much only good for CPU.

any suggestions how I would mount the RS360 rad on a antec 1200?
Also what causes the discoloration?

Plasticizer in the tubing causes the discoloration.
I don't know about the 1200 but you can browse/ask in this thread.

your a fool Mr. 42Posts

go with what ever your needs are. remember you can always add another rad later.

The stock cpu block will be fine if the loop is only for your cpu.

get some aftermarket tim if you dont have any already and invest in a piece of silver, stick it in your resovior and it will prevent algae from groing.

I won't be that ecstatic about it, but the performance of RASA kit lie on their RX series - in this case the RX360. Much better radiator IMO. I do not know if the CPU block is the same for all type of kits, but it is also a very good unit. I am running a CPU and two GPUs on one RX360 and I am getting very good temperature. GPU do not max out beyond 45c average. On prime95, CPU touches 60c after about 3 hours.

So, my recommendation is also to get RX360 if you plan to add GPU/GPUs to it later down the line.

EDIT: Few suggestions:
1) If you are just going after CPU, RS240 will work. See if you can find a RX240 (not sure if they make them). Like I said a RX360 on the other hand leaves you with a lot of room for future upgrade - see my sig rig.
2) Do not use red liquid. Lots and lots of horror stories where the dye separates from liquid and gunks up your block. Always use distilled water with some sort of biocide. Petra's nuke is popular among members here or a silver coil.
3) The tubes that come with the kit are crap. Get 10ft of thermochill (I think that is what is called) tube from Amazon for about $16.
4) If you are going with barb fitting, get 7/16" tube and 1/2" barb. The tube will go over the bard with a bit of muscle. Some folks like to dip the tube in hot water for it to go over the barb easy, but I found it not necessary. Once it is on there though, it is not coming out - you will have to cut it out. So measure twice and cut once. If you go with compression fitting, I suppose you can go 1/2" tube - I think outer diameter also matters here - do not have much experience with compression fitting.
5) With the RS or RX series radiator, get some good silent low RPM fans - anything around 1000 - 1200. I am running AP-14 fans. But I also used Gelid Silent 12s and they worked great. The fans that come with the kit are a bit noisy for my taste. Yate loons mediums are the best bang for buck.
6) Make sure to make a drain line at the lowest end of your loop.
7) Get couple rotary 90 degree fitting. I only needed one. But always get the rotary kind if you need a 90 degree (or 45 degree) fitting.

That is all my tired brain can think of....

Get the RX360 instead - so you have room for GPU expansion
Use distilled water + killcoil (silverstrip) + red tubing instead rather than UV red liquid.

Don't use the tubing that came with the kit - it will turn to brown (dump looking) after a couple of weeks.
